More about this content:
Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is a language used to define the structure of content on a webpage. It was developed in 1989 at CERN by Tim Berners-Lee who had just invented the World Wide Web. HTML is based on the Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) and uses opening and closing tags to provide meaning to text. It was standardized as HTML5 in 2008 and now contains tags to handle a variety of media types. To build a web page, an HTML file is created with a hierarchy of nodes based on the Document Object Model (DOM). Links can be created with an anchor tag and structural tags like division (div) are used to group elements together.
